Julie Chipperfield began her role as Hostel Manager in 2009 and soon also began setting up a Women's Refuge. Julie overcame a number of obstacles to see the project through to completion creating a safe and welcoming place for those in need. Julie arranged a number of fundraising activities in order to renovate the hostel itself and create a creche and garden area.
After successfully bidding for a gypsy and traveller site grant, Blackpool Coastal Housing created the Travellers' Site Community Centre. The centre, built to eco-friendly standards, gives the travellers grounding and a presence in the community and supports training, education and health.
West North West Homes Leeds' (WNWHL) Armley Mosque Project was launched as a cohesion scheme to build links with the areas Muslim community through activities such as charity cricket matches and 'Friday Meals', where Muslims welcome non-Muslims to the centre to enjoy food together. The activity has led to greater interaction and a reduction in ASB in the area.
Southenders is a unique photographic and autobiographical exhibition which tells the story of the people that have made South Essex their home. The project encourages involvement from residents of all nationalities and backgrounds to take pride in their community - showcasing different people's stories of different people through the medium of art. The exhibition received over 200 visitors and substantial press coverage.
Alf Chandler, 'the people's champion', attending his first tenants' meeting in 1946, Alf went on to become the Chair of the Board at Hounslow Homes, standing down last year at the age of 88. Under Alf's leadership, Hounslow Homes gained an Audit Commission rating of 3 stars and achieved the Decent Homes standard three years ahead of schedule.

Following the fatal stabbing of a friend, Rui Jorge Octavio, 21 from Edgware, took it upon himself to make a positive difference in his community. Rui arranged an event to reach out to disengaged young people during September 2008's Peace Week under the banner Nutmeg (New Unique Talented Motivated Energetic Generation) which has continued to grow with 500 people attending the anniversary event.
Eighteen year old Jessica Perry began volunteering at a young age and works hard at building relationships with Brent's elderly residents, bridging the age gap by running gentle keep-fit classes and swimming lessons to improve their health and social lives. Jessica has also worked her way up to becoming Sports Editor on the local Youth Editorial Board.
