The voice of England's council housing
management companies

About us

The NFA talks to government and policymakers on behalf of local authority-owned organisations – ALMOs – who manage 226,454 council homes across England. ALMOs are close to their communities and deliver quality homes. They also offer residents support with financial well-being, employability and health.
They often collaborate with health professionals, social care organisations, charities and community policing to deliver effective multi-agency wraparound services.  Many help fulfil their parent council’s homelessness prevention duties.

The NFA was established in 2003 to represent the interests of its members at the national level, lobbying and negotiating with central government on their behalf. The first ALMOs were set up in 2002, and their initial role was to help deliver the Decent Homes Programme to improve the condition of council housing.
