2 August 2023: Council landlords report rising arrears and increasing pressure on their homelessness and housing advice services as tenants struggle to cope with the cost of living. This joint survey from the NFA and ARCH, the body that represents councils with housing stock, is based on a substantial sample of data from around 300,000 council homes – about 30% of the sector.

March 2023: This report finds that the funding pot used by local authorities to deliver housing services and building safety is likely to drop into significant deficit in the next two to three years. February 2023: This suite of reports from the NFA and CWAG (Councils with ALMOs Group), first published in November 2021, has been updated to reflect newly enacted legislation prompted by the Social Housing White Paper. Over the next few years, housing managers and their councils must make sure they comply with these and other upcoming changes in the regulatory environment.
The Better Social Housing panel, convened by the housing association sector and the Chartered Institute of Housing in summer 2022, has reported on its findings from a six-month consultation with residents and social housing providers.
The twin focus of this review is not only social housing quality but also the culture and responsiveness of landlords to tenant’s concerns and complaints.
