NFA and ARCH Building and fire safety member webinar
Following the publication of the Building Safety Act and the new Fire Safety Regulations, the online event, which we are running in conjunction with our colleagues at ARCH will hear from key speakers on the changes introduced by these two key pieces of legislation following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The outline programme includes:
The Building Safety Act- Speakers from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Local Government (DLUHC) have been invited and will provide an overview of the Building Safety Act legislation to include new requirements on gateways and the golden thread, day to day management and new processes on recharging leaseholders for remediation, changes to limitation periods – the Defective Premises Act 1972, Section 38 Building Act 1984 and liability for construction products and making developers pay.
The Regulators view- Representatives from the Health & Safety Executive and new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) will set out the new duties on the “accountable person” and how they can be discharged with a focus on landlords’ responsibilities for managing existing blocks, developing the safety cases, resident engagement and the timetable for implementation.
LA and ALMO case studies -We will hear case studies from colleagues in a local authority and an ALMO about the practical steps they are taking to prepare for the new legislation & regulations.
The Fire Safety Act -Representatives from the Home Office will provide anupdate on new duties imposed by the Fire Safety Act Regulations and what they mean for local authority landlords.
