NFA and ARCH online event – The Social Housing White Paper, Anti-Social Behaviour and the Community Trigger (ASB)

The new social housing Tenant Satisfaction Measures proposed in the White Paper will include measures on responsible neighbourhood management, including tackling anti-social behaviour and in this special webinar we will explore what the Government expect from local authorities and ALMOs in tackling ASB and delivering the Charter for Social Housing Residents and hear from a number of our member councils and ALMOs on how they are tackling the issues within their local authority areas.

Steve Ward from the Social Housing Division at the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government will outline the Government’s plans to support tenants facing ASB and crime and the expectations placed on social landlords under the White Paper and the Charter for Social Housing Residents.

Katy Anderson from ASB Help and Jim Nixon from Stoke on Trent City Council will outline the approach taken in Stoke in tackling ASB and how the use of the Community Trigger and ASBHelp’s ASB Pledge is helping support their local strategy.

Carl Mullooly from Sheffield City Council will focus on the work done by Sheffield’s Neighbourhood Housing Officers in providing support for Sheffield City Council’s housing tenants, helping to address issues of concern. This approach has helped to reduce ASB reports from tenants from around 5,000 to less than 3,000 within four years.

Anita McGinley from South Essex Homes will highlight the working relationship between South Essex Homes and Essex Police to tackle the problem of “County Lines” and the sharing information on all aspects of ASB across the Borough and we will hear from Colchester Borough Homes on their approach to tackling ASB.

In the final session, we will hear from Rebecca Bryant, Chief Executive of Resolve UK – a Centre of Excellence solely focused upon community safety and antisocial behaviour. Now in its 25th year, Resolve’s mission is to help organisations to effectively deal with community safety and ASB issues through training, support, guidance and sharing best practice.

This special webinar is open to ARCH member councils and members of the National Federation of ALMOs and is aimed at tenant representatives, elected members, ALMO Board members and officers from ARCH member councils and ALMOs. ARCH & NFA members are entitled to up to 5 free places at the event.
