Lockdown story of three generations wins NFA photography competition
The winner of the NFA’s 2022 photography competition captures the lockdown story of three generations in one moving image. Stockport Homes customer Nikki Morgan took a photography course organised by her landlord, and later captured her mother and grandmother during the lockdown Christmas of 2020 in a moving image that radiates happiness, despite the difficulties they were grappling with.

“It’s a wonderful picture that also celebrates the ‘more than housing’ work that we and our fellow NFA members try to deliver for our customers,” said Stockport Homes CEO Helen McHale. “We’re very proud of Nikki’s achievement.”
Delegates at the NFA Annual Conference held last week in Birmingham voted for the winner from the ten shortlisted images that were displayed throughout the day. Nikki’s award was presented to her by NFA Policy Director Chloe Fletcher at the end of the celebration dinner which also marked the 20th anniversary of the ALMO movement and the creation of two current member organisations, Derby Homes and Berneslai Homes.
And in the lockdown Christmas of 2020, she was able to capture this portrait of her gran and her mum. “This picture means so much to me,” says Nikki. “It’s a simple family moment at Christmas, but the way my Nan is looking at my mum and the pure love and joy she is radiating is so moving.
“She’s 98, and we’re thrilled she’s still with us, and that we’ve been able to keep her happy and safe. And the support we’ve had from our landlord in every aspect of life, community and home has played a big part in that.”
