Stockport Homes tops Best Companies list
NFA member Stockport Homes has been recognised in the annual Best Companies lists for the 15th consecutive year, topping the housing sector list and featuring in the overall top 10 best large companies.
They have also won a special recognition award – SHG’s third – for commitment to helping staff volunteer for local causes. The Stockport Council ALMO’s staff are currently supporting homeless charity Wellspring and have raised over £10,000 in the last six months by taking part in the Manchester 10k run, Stockport’s dragon boat race competition and a charity sleepout.
“We are proud to have been recognised by Best Companies for the 15th consecutive year,” said Stockport Homes Chair Steve Partridge.
“Creating an exceptional workplace is one of our key priorities, and we remain committed to empowering our talented teams to provide outstanding service to our customers. On behalf of the Board, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to all our employees for their unwavering dedication, expertise, and passion.”
Best Companies celebrates excellence in the workplace and the award recognises Stockport Homes Group’s success in realising its mission to be ‘One Team, Transforming Lives’ with a strong focus on driving excellent customer service and engagement.
The ALMO also feeds into its parent council’s strategy to make Stockport greener, investing in help for customers to reduce their energy bills. In common with many other NFA members, the ALMO also supports a local pantry scheme and maximises opportunities for local employment through its own recruitment and with local partners.
Innovative initiatives in the workplace have created colleague groups that celebrate diversity and champion voice, growth pathways that provide opportunities to learn new skills and develop careers, and well-being support in the form of free counselling and money and energy advice.
One standout initiative are the Mental Health First Aiders, known as Active Listeners, who provide a crucial first point of contact for colleagues needing support alongside an independent Specialist Counsellor for those with complex issues.
The group’s hybrid working practices are incorporated into its ‘Maximising Our Potential Approach’, offering flexible working hours and locations. Its ASPIRE Xtra reward scheme recognises individuals and teams that have gone the extra mile.
