NFA members celebrate #IWD2022

International Women’s Day is being celebrated by NFA members across the country, focusing on the day’s theme of #BreakTheBias.

Staff at Colchester Borough Homes and Lancashire’s Six Town Housing are sharing #BreakTheBias stories on their organisations’ Twitter accounts, and in Tower Hamlets THH partners are running exhibitions and workshops.

At Nottingham City Homes’ Tenant Academy, a Women in Construction taster day later this week, free to NCH residents, offers women a chance to try building trades such as bricklaying, joinery, painting and decorating.

The one-day event  – repeated throughout the year – is part of NCH’s Women in Construction programme which aims to empower women to develop careers in this traditionally male-dominated sector. Taster day participants also get to meet and be inspired by other women who have already taken up apprenticeships and jobs in the building industry.
Like other NFA members, NCH offers a wide range of support for all residents who want to improve their skills and employability and access further training.

Derby Homes are supporting the city-wide Safe Derby partnership that aims to make Derby a city free of gender-based violence, abuse and exploitation in public places.

At Solihull Community Homes, a video message from CEO Fiona Hughes thanks female staff for their contribution to the organisation’s work.

And Lewisham Homes have organised a month-long series of events to celebrate the achievements of women throughout the borough and inspire others.
