It explains how social housing management is changing as a result of the Grenfell Tower Fire, and how tenants can expect to be consulted much more closely by councils who are also landlords.

Based on the experience of NFA and CWAG members, it sets out how councils with ALMOs or in-house housing management can check whether their services are of good quality and meet the needs of tenants.

This residents’ briefing also suggests questions tenants might ask of their landlords to help ensure good services are being delivered. It is designed to help both individuals and actively involved tenants who serve on their landlords’ scrutiny panels.

“We hope that this short guide will give our members’ customers and, perhaps, social housing residents across the sector an easy-to-understand summary of the changes that are now on the way as a result of the Social Housing White Paper,” said NFA Policy Director Chloe Fletcher.

“The core aim of these changes is to put tenants at the heart of social housing management. This version of our report is stripped of the terms and phrases housing professionals often use, but are less common outside the sector, and we hope tenants will find it useful.”
