ALMO tenant awarded MBE
A community hero who got involved with her local foodbank during the pandemic – and is now helping to feed more than 100 families – has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours.
Tina Harrison, 62, is a former nursing home manager and has always gone out of her way to help her neighbours, setting up groups to address crime, isolation and financial problems.
But, at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic she started to help out at a foodbank near her home and realised the number of people who were in desperate need.
With her help, Trinity Foodbank, on Westminster Avenue in Radcliffe, has gone from distributing 20 hampers of food a week up to 150.
Trinity is not a charity and all of its donations come from local people and businesses who go out of their way to help others.
