Patching the Safety Net: Measuring the impact of Universal Credit on tenants and landlords, survey results 2019
This is the annual NFA and ARCH survey which measures the impact of Universal Credit on tenants and landlords. It draws on data from 39 local authorities and housing management companies, managing over half a million social and affordable local authority homes.
The report calls for government to:
- Remove the 5-week wait and pay Universal Credit at the beginning of the claim;
- Improve the functionality of the Landlord Portal;
- Make improvements to the APA system;
- Fund effective on-going support for claimants, including personal budgeting and debt management advice;
- Make sure that landlords are trusted partners in the Move to UC, including developing data and information sharing protocols, and sharing timescales for the move of tenants.
